Thank you! Now maybe this will motivate me to work on my draft and figure out exactly what I want to say...

Fantastic resources. “Worn” is a great read and now I’m interested in “are you wearing that”

A very interesting list of resources. I'm a fan of the Sustain This podcast - I think I'll check out the other podcast and YouTubes you recommend.

Cool! Would be interesting to see what others make of it. My ears always prick up when I come across content featuring people in the clothing industry (other than creative director types).

Design for the Real World! Man, that takes me back to my industrial design undergrad days. My education definitely taught me to pay attention to materiality and construction, which are very much tied to quality. I’ve also been chipping away at Worn for a while — it is dense, but the economics of fashion is very interesting. Will check out some of your other recs and congrats on getting the audience you deserve!

"Design" was recommended by a friend of mine, when I got really into industrial design as a topic and I was just surprised by how applicable it was to everyday things I come across.

I also want to find out more about quality in clothing so thanks for putting out this list of resources.

Just one point about Permanent Style - over the last few years it has moved on from being mostly bespoke to covering casual styles too. The blog has been going for over 15 years and by now has a vast archive of articles about most aspects of menswear . www.permanentstyle.com is much more in-depth than the YouTube channel. You can tell I'm a fan.

Good point, I should add his website link to the post! Agree it's a treasure trove but I found the video content especially lovely because you could really see how the clothes fell. Admittedly, I haven't followed him closely in recent years and it's great that he's gone beyond traditional suiting! Thanks for sharing.

Thank you for putting this together! I'm always excited to discover new resources about how clothes are made - knowledge I think a lot of us grow up without, despite how large a role clothes play in our lives. (Also, congrats on 1k subscribers! These people clearly have good taste.) 🖤

Thanks :) I wish there were more of such resources...honestly I thought I would have more stuff on this list when I started but when I thought about it, I realise mostly got my info from now-defunct style forum threads...

This is a fantastic resource Lin, thank you for putting it together.

Can I add “the cutting room” a great website detailing how a lot of clothes are created. The focus is very much on the technical aspects of design, but a great intro into what to look at when looking at clothes

Oh yes I can't believe I forgot that! I came across it a few months ago when I was looking at Dries Van Noten things and I loved the articles they did breaking down his patterns and colours. Going to have to update this post...
